Everybody around here is getting pretty excited about our upcoming vacation next week. We intend to spend part of our vacation attempting to do a little camping.
Last year our week off in the summer was spent with three out of the 4 family members having the stomach flu, so I honestly think whatever happens this year cannot possibly be worse!
So in anticipation of our much needed (at least for Andy and I) break, I did a camping themed muffin tin for dinner tonight.
1. Campfire (mini lemon cupcake)
2. Roasting marshmallows over the fire (marshmallow on a pretzel stick)
3. Water with an Inner Tube floating (blueberries with a pear on top)
4. A tent on a grassy campsite (crackers with spray cheese to hold together, on a bed of broccoli slaw
5. Sunshine--hope we have some on our adventure (colby cheese)
6. Fishing (pocky fishing rod, spaghetti noodle line, graham goldfish)
I haven't done a real theme in a while, so this was a real fun one for me :)
The girls really enjoyed it too. I was shocked that both of them ate a whole bunch of the broccoli slaw. I didn't put any dressing on it because I didn't think they would like it, but I think it was the shape of the pieces that appealed to them. Big Sis wanted to know what it was called, so I told her "slaw" and then she made a funny face and stopped eating it. We talked about some of the things we will do when we go camping, like swimming in the lake, fishing, and roasting marshmallows. I think they are getting excited for our trip!
