MTM-Orange

Mondays at our house mean we get to have a muffin tin meal!

We are continuing on our Color-themed MTMs.  This week was Orange.

I decided not to post last night because all I felt like doing after I put the girls to bed was vegging out in front of the TV, watching Weeds on Netflix.  I am totally hooked on that show!

MTM-Easter

Once again, my best laid plans for a super awesome muffin tin for the girls were screwed up by my super busy day at work.  

So here we go!

1. Bunny Macaroni-Annie's Organic (I'll confess this was leftover from lunch)

2.  Bunny Poops (potty humor is rampant in our house lately) Cottage Cheese

3.  Easter Eggs (it's a stretch....) aka Pickles

4.  Easter Smiles aka Peaches

5.  Bunny Sandwich (Ham, Colby, Pesto mayo) and no I couldn't be bothered to make a face on the poor thing.

6.  Easter Mud--(the sprinkles make it Eastery, right?) - chocolate pudding.

Despite my half-axxed effort tonight, the girls both were very enthusiastic about their dinner, and ate well.

Menu Plan 4/17

I have a little break because the girls are napping--well Little Dude is napping, and big sis is attempting to chew on her toenails (yikes) in her bed.  I would go in and tell her not to, but it doesn't appear that she is quite getting the job done.  So I will leave that discussion for after rest time.

MTM-Red

I am starting a "colors of the rainbow" series of Muffin Tin meals.  Although it will probably take us a while to get through it, since we will have to have an Easter MTM and a few others in there.  Andy said tonight that I must be running out of ideas if our theme tonight was "just red".  

I actually had fun thinking of all kinds of different foods for each color when I was planning out "Red".  It was a fun challenge to try to make a balanced meal out of foods of the same color.  

1.  Grape tomatoes

2.  Red Jello (Little Dude was NOT a fan)

3.  Red pepper slices with Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

4.  Spaghetti

5.  Strawberries

6.  More Spaghetti

We really can't go wrong with spaghetti and strawberries at our house.  Everyone (except me) loves spaghetti.  The hummus was something different for the girls to try, and they both did try it.  Neither one seemed to be a big fan, but I will definitely give it another try at a later date. Maybe they would be more receptive if the dipping implement was a pretzel ;)

I didn't get a picture of the girls enjoying their dinner, but I can tell you that we went STRAIGHT into the bath after dinner....whew, they were a mess!

Menu Plan 4/10/11

Here is our Menu Plan for this week.  We didn't have Salmon last week because I never made it to Sam's Club as planned, so it is on our menu for this week.

D:  Brats, Chicken pasta salad, chips and dip, baked beans

Monday

B:  Yogurt and fruit

L:  Leftover pasta salad, and turkey/muenster sandwich with pesto mayo

D:  Muffin Tin Monday--RED

Tuesday

B:  Oatmeal and Fruit

L:  Leftover spaghetti from MTM, garlic breadsticks

D:  Chicken Stirfry

Wednesday

B:  Freezer Pancakes and fruit

L:  Grilled cheese and soup

D:  Grilled Steak, corn on the cob, and dill potatoes

Thursday

B:  Cereal and fruit

L:  Quesadilla and corn

D:  Baked lemon pepper salmon, green beans, rice pilaf 

Friday

D:  BBQ Ribs, garlic mashed potatoes, corn

Little Dude

Shortly after E was born and C was adjusting to "big sisterhood", C started calling E "Dudie".  I am not sure where it came from, and also didn't think it would really stick.  C was 18 months old when E was born, and I just thought that it probably wouldn't stick since she was so young.  

Well it has stuck.  

C calls E "Dudie", "Little Dude", "Doo Doo", "Dee Dee", etc. about 90% of the time.

It is pretty cute.  I wonder how long it will last.  I find myself referring to E as Dudie sometimes too.  

So I decided to start referring to the girls as Big Sis and Little Dude on this blog.  

 

Menu Plan 3/4/11

Our menu plan this week was thrown together this morning as I was getting ready for work.  I normally do our menu plan over the weekend, but I went to a brew fest this weekend with two girlfriends, so I didn't have it done.  This morning it occured to me that I had better get it done so that our sitter would know what to make the girls for breakfast and lunch.  Also, Monday is my grocery shopping day, and how could I shop for groceries if I don't know what I am making for the week.  Argh!

Monday

B:  Bagels, Cream Cheese, grapes

L:  Macaroni and Marinara, meatballs

D:  Muffin Tin Monday

Tuesday

B:  Frozen Pancakes and fruit

L: Chicken nuggets and French Fries

D:  Taxes--Girls to Andy's Parents' for Dinner

L:  Breadsticks and Marinara for dipping

D:  Pork Chops, Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes

MTM-Hodge Podge

Monday at our house means "Muffin Tin Day" as Big Sis calls it.  She was SO excited today when I got home from work.  Luckily, they both get super excited when they see me pull the muffin tins out of the cupboard, and don't even notice if I have yet again been to busy at work to come up with a fun and exciting theme.  

1.  Mini Heart Sammies on Cinnamon Raisin Bread.  One with Jelly and one with Nutella (or chocolate pudding--so they thought)

2.  Grapes on a "Male Sword" (? <-- as Big Sis was calling it)

3.  "I Love You Like Crazy Applesauce"

4.  Ketchup for dipping #6

5.  Meow Meow Muenster

6.  Balls o' Meat (Chicken Meatballs with herbs and provolone)

Little Dude devoured her meatballs.  I couldn't believe it.  

Big sis went to town on the Sammies and grapes.  And as always, the applesauce was a hit with both girls.

After the girls ate their dinner, they were able to have a little treat--cinnamon pretzels that they made with our sitter today.   We usually only have desserts on Saturday, but the we let the girls have an extra little treat this week.  These were really yummy--can you believe they came out of a can?!
